LAN - Local Area Network
A local area network connects net devices across a relatively short space. A networked office block, school, or home commonly contains a single local area network, though some of the times one building leave bear a few small local area network* (perhaps one per room), and at times a local area network will span a grouping from near buildings. In TCP/IP networking, a local area network is often but not always implemented because a single IP subnet.
In addition to controlling in a limited distance, LANs are also commonly owned, controlled, and managed by a single person or organization. They also tend to use sure connectivity technologies, chiefly Ethernet and Token Ring.
